You have experienced a common problem in the airport world. The official names of airports aren’t always obvious or well known. We have accounted for this in our app by providing search capability at the top of the screen in the airport list. You can search by airport name, city name, or three letter airport ID. The Las Vegas airport is actually officially named the McCarran International airport (listed under M in the alphabetical list). You could also search by using the word Vegas or Las Vegas. Searching for LAS (the official three letter identifier for this airport) would locate the airport also. Hope this helps.

Big news, travelers. The McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas has opened their brand new Terminal 3! Alaska, Frontier, JetBlue, Sun Country and Virgin America are all scheduled to move in tomorow, July 31st, 2012. If you are flying on one of these airlines into or out of Vegas on Tuesday, be aware of this change and get excited! It’s not often that you get to fly into a brand new terminal.

We at Airport Life have been following the journey of this new terminal for quite some time. Over the past few months, we have researched for updates on the construction, photos, even the promotional races and activities leading up to opening day and all sources seem to be unanimous: this is a very impressive expansion.

Please send us personal reactions and photos from your travels into and out of this new terminal. We can’t wait to see it in person!

Congratulations, McCarran!

Good evening travelers,

Captain Dan here. I just landed at the Denver Airport and am headed to my layover. It looks like there is a lot of road construction on the roads around the terminal building so I wanted to send a quick update.

Good afternoon, Friends and Travelers!

It has been a whirlwind week for Captain Dan and the crew here at Airport Life. We have stopped for a breather and to share some news with you that we have been bursting to share for several days now.

As you know, Airport Life is a new travel application to hit the commercial market and in under a year has seen over 21,000 downloads and counting. This is due to the extraordinary efforts of Captain Dan’s hard work, education, and the collaboration of a few friends and businesses that he has recruited to help him along the way. Now, Airport Life and Captain Dan are ready for the next adventure…

Today, it is our pleasure to announce that Captain Dan has been selected to participate in Patriot Boot Camp.

What does this mean?

As a part of the RisingStars program, (produced by TechStars) Patriot Boot Camp is an intense 3-day convention of mentoring and education for Veterans starting businesses or looking to expand their current projects. Captain Dan will be traveling to Georgetown University July 18th-20th for this intense ‘boot camp’ which will consist of networking, LOTS of mentoring from Tech Stars employees and successful entrepreneurs from numerous successful companies, plus an opportunity for Captain Dan to share the Airport Life story with others. This is an Extreme Honor. The pool of applicants was impressive both in size and scope of ideas and Captain Dan was chosen to fill one of the very limited number of spots.

There is too much to share in one Log post so please visit the Patriot Boot Camp webpage to read the full synopsis and learn a little more about this unique event. For more information on TechStars, please find their link below.

Once again, before we sign-off we’d like to say a quick THANK YOU to our friends, families, fans, supporters, and our growing community of current and future Airport Life travelers. This honor would not hold half of it’s promise and excitement if it weren’t for you. Please continue to share your Airport Life stories with us and never hesitate to send us a question via, Ask Captain Dan. Airport Life exists to make your air travel easier.

Signing off,

This is an elated Captain Dan and his crew. We’ll be back with you very soon with more updates and news to share.

What is TechStars?

TechStars is considered the #1 start-up accelerator in the world. They exist to mentor, encourage, and help grow entrepreneurs AND their visions and ideas. Many of the social media outlets, websites, companies etc that you use on a daily basis can attribute some portion of their fame to this program. For more information, please see their website here.

Good morning, travelers!

We have some very exciting news to share with you today! Our new website feature, Ask Captain Dan, has finally arrived! We have been very excited to share this new feature with you for a while now but were waiting for just the right time. Last week, we decided it was that time.

Ask Captain Dan is a tool that we have developed that can help take some of the mystery out of flying. As it was customer complaints/questions that helped lead Captain Dan to create the amazing tool that we know today as, Airport Life, we decided to go back to that and open Airport Life and Captain Dan up for customer questions once again.

So, do you have a question about travel? About airplanes or flying? Ask away! This is your forum and Captain Dan is standing by to answer your questions.

A few things you should know: This is not a real-time feature. Questions will likely be answered a couple of times per week. If we receive duplicates of the same question, we may email everyone to let them know that their question has been answered but the question may look a little different from how each person asked originally. Therefore, please be sure to include a valid email address so that we can try to email every one of you when your question has been answered. Be sure to read the posts closely, your question will be in there. We will also post on Facebook and Twitter when a new question has been answered so that our Social Media fans can keep caught up on their travel knowledge.

And now, without further adieu, please check out our first two entries, your questions, with answers from our own Captain himself and then submit a question of your own while you’re there. Ask Captain Dan

Thanks, everyone!

This is Captain Dan and Heather signing off. Enjoy your Monday!
